"Vegetable Serenade" - Thom Fawn Pistol
I saunter through the farmer's market
Canvas tote in hand
The supple eggplants beckon,
Like love unrequited
Who do I spy, clutching a crown of broccoli?
A fair mistress of the Earth,
Sampling its tender gifts
Gently dropping them into a whimsical basket
To love, to sing,
To live this vegetable serenade
